friendless: an individual without friends.
hey. i'm evan, an alter close to alex. i wanted to personally write a post for alex to post on this website. i don't know how neocities works, so this is written in our notes app and alex is posting it after i'm done.
so, what is friendless anyway?
if you're neurodivergent, you've probably either consciously or subconsciously done the song and dance that neurotypicals do everyday. having friends and community is almost a societal expectation and you're kind of a failure if you don't have them, right? if you don't have them, you're a weird loser and loner at best, a scary person to stay away from at worst.
what if you're aplatonic due to the neurodivergence? what if you just don't care to have or make friends, whether at all or in a traditional sense?
i've never really felt like i needed friends. most of the system i'm in is aplatonic in some way, mostly because of trauma. i do have people i'm close to, but i wouldn't call them friends. i don't even really like the term 'friend', anyway. for ease of use sometimes, i do say 'friend' and 'friends', especially if i get the rare chance to chat with others outside the system. but through the help of the more internet-savvy ones in here, i'm aware of other, more niche terms now. such as the ones i use: 'chat' for a singular friend and 'groupchat' for, well, friends. i still call the ones i'm in a close relationship with my partner or whatever they prefer, but otherwise i'll use those terms.
but you'll ask: "evan, do you hate people?!"
i genuinely don't give enough of a shit to hate people because i'm too busy to enjoy life. but to answer the question: just because i don't have friends in a traditional sense does it mean i don't have people in my life at all that i care about. my life with others looks just more like... "friendship-punk" or whatever the amatopunk version of it is. (alex edit: he was thinking of platoweird)
another question you might ask is: "evan, do you even feel love towards anyone?"
well... yeah, duh! i do. being aplatonic doesn't mean i don't give a single shit about anyone i'm close to like they could just fall over and perish while i'd blankly stare at them with zero emotion.
alex and i have a thing going on and it's something others would call 'queerplatonic' or a very casual relationship with very little attachments and we love each other a lot. i also have some relationships with people in here that others would call friends or family, they've gotten a lot of my affection and have seen my soft side more often than anyone else.
as for my finishing thoughts: i think folks should get more comfortable with aplatonic people (or really, anyone with a more complex relationship to others) existing and living their lives on their terms because frankly, some of you sound like the types of people who used to go around and point at others and call them freaks just because they're asexual/aromantic on tumblr circa 2014. hell, some of these people still exist today. don't be like them, seriously. it's not a cute look.
that's all i have for you, folks!
